Sterling Scores As Man City Continue Record-Breaking EPL Winning Streak

Sterling Scores As Man City Continue Record-Breaking EPL Winning Streak

Manchester City continued their winning run as they pipped a stubborn Newcastle side 1-0 in the Premier League at St. James’ Park on Wednesday night.

Raheem Sterling got the only goal in the first half to make it 18 straight league wins for the leaders.

They have also equalled Chelsea as the teams with 11 consecutive top flight away wins.
City have now stretched their lead ahead of second-placed Manchester United to 15 points. City have 58 points from 20 matches, having dropped only two points all season.
City were forced into an early change as skipper Vincent Kompany went off injured and was replaced by Gabriel Jesus.
Pep Guardiola’s continued to dominate as Sergio Aguero went close on 31 minutes, hitting a brilliant shot which hit the post.
City eventually broke the deadlock as Sterling slid and connected with Kevin De Bruyne’s floated ball over the Newcastle defence past an on rushing Elliott to make it 1-0.
Newcastle almost equalised on 34 minutes after an audacious chip from Rolando Aarons over Ederson after Kyle Walker slipped but Nicolas Otamendi recovered and headed the ball over the bar.
With five minutes remaining City broke and were close to doubling their lead but Aguero’s shot was blocked away for a corner by Mohamed Diame.
City thought they had doubled their lead on 66 minutes but Aguero was flagged for offside after De Bruyne’s shot from the edge came off the post.
In the 76th minute Newcastle thought they had won a penalty after Dwight Gayle went down inside the box following a slight contact from Danilo but the Magpies striker was shown a yellow card diving.
With two minutes to the end, Gayle almost snatched a late goal but his header from Christian Atsu went inches wide.
