Atletico Madrid have booked their place into the quarter-finals of this season’s UEFA Europa League following their 5-1 away win against Russian club Lokomotiv Moscow in their second-leg round of 16 clash on Thursday.
Atletico advanced into the last eight 8-1 on aggregate after winning the first leg 3-0 on March 8.
Angel Correa opened the scoring for Atletico in the 16th minute but Lokomotiv drew level through Maciej Rybus on 20 minutes.
Two minutes into the second half, Saul Niguez restored Atletico’s lead.
Former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres got Atletico’s third (penalty) and fourth goals in the 65th and 70th minutes to give his side a 4-1 lead. And in the 85th minute, Antoine Griezmann rounded off the rout.
